Young Girl Facing the Syrian Regime in Her Own Way!

 The young girl ‘Noor Sham’, (17 years), influenced with her uncle, who was one of the first participants in the Syrian revolution in 2011, and although she was not exceed 12-year-old that time, but she began drawing, writing poems, and read then in the demonstrations in Sakba, in Damascus’ countryside.

 After the Syrian regime broke into her hometown Sakba in 2012, Noor was forced to burn all her paintings and poems that support the revolution, for fear of arrest by the regime forces. Later she learned knitting wool and began weaving some woolen clothes for people who are opponents of the regime in the region.

 Noor says: "I have not forgotten that day in which they broke into our city on 29/1/2012, that day my father was very concerned about me, and asked me to burn all my paper memories and revolutionary drawings and poems, and even though I began cooperating with my friends, and weaving woolly scarves for the rebels secretly, to protect them from the cold of winter."

 

After the departure of the regime forces from Sakba in the end of 2012, Noor Sham, was chosen by her school’s teacher, to help them in the sessions of psychosocial support for children, who suffer from Down syndrome, especially, that their suffering has increased, because of the war and the ongoing bombing of the Syrian regime.

"It was the most beautiful day of my life the day when the regime forces got out of the cities in Damascus countryside, where we went back to our study and activities, she added: "we began learning the children with Down syndrome, and help them to invest their energies, and through my dealings with them, I discovered that they are the most lovable people. "

Despite her young age, she was able to gain fame in her hometown, what led to selecting her to be a manager, in one of the opposition educational centers.
