The workers in the psychiatry field used to derive terms to describe the different depression disorders such as " Seasonal Affective Disorder " or " Post-Natal Depression " or "Posttraumatic stress disorder", but we find ourselves today in front of a new type of depression, the specialists start to describe it as " Post-Revolution Depression!".
And despite the fact that depression affects one out of five people on this planet, but we find that the entire Syrian youth generation is susceptible to this kind of depression.
Anxiety, melancholy and Psychological Stress, anchored in feelings of sadness and loss of loved ones and alienation, these are symptoms that alcohol and intoxicants are unable to comfort, and all the sedative medicine failed to alleviate the suffering of its patients.
The symptoms that affect young people in particular, threatens to be a disaster, especially that it affects the age group constitutes more than half of the Syrian young society, and the symptoms become more severe with the continuation of the tragedy and the lack of opportunities for a solution.
In spite of that these young people were the first dreamers of a better future, and many creatives were among them, but they were also the saddest because of these dreams were vanished.
Over five years, since the start of the Syrian revolution, Syrians youth colored the world with their creativity, created new arts, and the most prominent of them reaped the innovation and courage and a free press awards, those colored the squares and the music stands and threw their poetry in the whole universe, driven by a unique and rare rush, but that positive energy was the reason for infection with symptoms of depression more than the others.
Many young men, lost the ability to meet their families again, and their loved ones have died, and the dream of a free homeland broke in front of them, a dream that they had paid everything in order to see it achieved, they found themselves at a devastated country, shrapnel, and blood!
Inside Syria, you would see young men and women crushed by life and stranded, lost their jobs and their dreams were collapsed, they tried to stay, despite the large amount of pain, and out of the country you will see them and know them by their tears for the country they see in their dreams every day and can reach it anymore.
Sleep disorders, excessive anxiety, trembling hands, severe crying, sudden laughter, and cases of fatal nostalgia. Their weakness is trying to encase itself vigorously, under the weight of a crazy world! It seems that with the ongoing suffering, this kind of unrest would need an in-depth studies trying to understand it first, to access to treatment later.
And it will be more logical for the planners of any coming revolution, to plan to address this type of depression in order to treat their audience, with preparing them for slogans, graffiti, songs, and manuals first aid, and probably soon we will find a booklet in the markets entitled "How to protect your revolution from depression in five minutes?! ".
