Syrian Refugees in a Closed Road!

Syrian Refugees in a Closed Road!

Reports | 25 05 2020

According to a report by Human Rights Watch; Greek authorities have returned dozens of refugees who arrived in its islands to Turkey under a previous agreement between Turkey and the European Union.

Under an agreement prevents the Syrians from crossing.

But what happens to the Syrians in Greece? What are the means they adopt to gain access to the European paradise, after the closure of the access’ crossings?

"Tens of thousands of refugees, including women and children are stuck, some of them spend their days in the camps, and some are displaced in the streets and the Greek islands, waiting for relief," says Ghiath Al-Joundi, the human rights activist.

Adds Mr. Joundi: "Many lost the hope, and the saddest idea is that some of them believe that his city which is under bombardment seems to be safer than the camps in Greece."

"I am here since more than a month and a half, with my children, pending the borders open and continue our journey. I came from Daraa (southern Syria), but Daraa which is suffering; looks more safety than the camps here," says a Syrian teacher who is stuck on the border with her children.

Large humanitarian organizations are absent, while the small humanitarian organizations are there to provide simple services to the refugees. Camps have turned into detention centers for refugees, and among the loss of hope and the presence of life’s pain, and the difficulties of access to Europe, the volunteers in the small humanitarian organizations are offering their assistance, as they can.

How do they sleep? how do they spend their days? what are their dreams?
