The Syrian child, Mohammed, who was only thirteen-year-old, has to work in a workshop for "pouring concrete", in the town of Kafr Nabl in Idlib countryside.
Mohammed grew prematurely, left the school, "my father was killed during the war. I am working with my uncle in pouring the concrete; bring him what he asks me. I'm the big brother and the only boy in the family. Before my father’s death I was the first in my class, but now I am out of the school." The child said.
Although Umm Mohammed is aware of the difficulty of the child labor in "pouring concrete", but she is happy with her son’s work, he is the breadwinner in the family!
Muhammad is not the only child who lives these circumstances, also Yousef, whose face and hands’ whiteness were covered by the car oil and, his situation is not much better.
Yousef rarely plays with other children, because he spends his day in the car repair shop. He said: "I paste the wheels of cars and motorcycles. I change the car’s oil. I left the school a month ago, because the teachers are no longer as they were before. I help my family with the fare that I get from work."
It is noteworthy that the Syrian laws that were in place before 2011 prohibit child labor under the age of fifteen. But the laws are disabled in the opposition-controlled areas, and there is no alternative solution yet.
