Syrian Refugee Turns Her Tent into a Classroom!

Sana al-Serjawi has turned her tent in one of the camps of the Lebanese Bekaa, into a school for Syrian children interested in learning and developing their capabilities.

Sana, a Syrian refugee, was not able to find herself a job to live by—despite holding a diploma in Biology from Syria. The current circumstances, however, were not helpful; it seems almost impossible for her to work in Lebanon.

Sana, therefore, puts her three children in a nearby tent, while she works as a  volunteer teaching children—in some instances even carrying her baby on her arm while teaching.

Serjawi pours her heart and soul into the effort to develop refugee children’s capabilities and assist them in their studies. Jumana, one of her students, says: "I'm in the first school year. Auntie Sana teaches me well. My school teacher tells me that I am very good."
