Syrian Radio Rozana received the Mariano Cebrián award for the best Radio station project and online Radio. Rozana’s chief editor Lina Chawaf received the award on behalf of the station, on Thursday, in a ceremony organized by Radio and TV "Aragon", in the Spanish city of Zaragoza.

The six-member jury comprised Spanish journalists, and media academics. Radio Rozana was in competition with fourteen other radio stations from Spain, Portugal and Brazil.

In a telephone interview, Lina Chawaf reasserted Rozana’s identity as the voice of all Syrians: "The messages of Rozana listeners will be our word at the award ceremony.”

Chawaf dedicated this award to all Syrians; to those who lost their lives while attempting to convey the truth; to the mothers of Rozana’s fallen correspondents; as well as everyone on the Rozana team, and the unknown soldiers in the organization.

The Mariano Cebrián annual excellence prize is given for two categories; namely, for best project or online radio program, or for best research and doctoral thesis on radio and television.

The prize was launched to honor the memory of researcher Mariano Cebrián, a former professor at the University Complutense de Madrid—considered one of the most important specialists in the field of digital radio stations. He died in 2013.
