Syrian Radio Rozana received on Tuesday the Mariano Cebrián award for the best Online Radio Project. The official award ceremony will be held during in a conference organized by Aragon radio and television in the Spanish city of Zaragoza.
This annual award is given for excellence, and is divided into two categories: The Mariano Cebrián Award for best online radio project or program; and the best research or doctoral thesis on radio and television.
It is to be noted that last year “Radio y Red” handed the award—one of the most important media awards in Spain—to online radio “AERO," and to the University Radios Association “ARU.”
This award was launched to honor the memory of researcher, "Mariano Cebrián," former professor at the "Complutense de Madrid” university, considered one of the foremost specialists in the field of digital radio stations. He passed away in 2013.
Radio Rozana was established in the summer of 2013. It strives to cover the Syrian situation with the greatest degree of professionalism, through its network of correspondents within Syria, its neighboring countries, and around the world. It aims to offer a platform prioritizing civilians in Syria, offering them room to express themselves and their views; regardless of their orientation, or their religious or political affiliation.
