"Mamo," a resident of the border village of Bnerka, lost his father to a land mine. He assures Rozana that many of village's residents have similarly lost limbs or sustained a variety of injuries, as a result of their village's proximity to border minefields.

There are 57 houses in the small village of Bnerka, in which 25 individuals have sustained injuries as a result mines planted along the border with Turkey, exploding. Children, as it is sadly usual, are more likely to become thr victims of these remnants of war.

This situation has, in turn, prompted the "Bahar" Association in Afrin to launch many awareness campaigns on the remnants of war for the residents of the Afrin area, in a last-ditch attempt to to save that which can still be saved; as well as to educate people in the border areas about the inherent risks.
