Syrian emigrant, Osama Abdul-Mohsen al-Ghadab—who appeared in a video on social networking sites, while being trampled by Hungarian journalist Petra Lazslo—says that his son’s leg was wounded on that day. He says that he administered him first aid, until they arrived in Austria, where he checked him into a hospital. This statement came during the first news interview with him after the incident; when Abdul-Mohsen explained to Rozana on Friday, that he currently is at the Austrian border heading to Munich in Germany.
His son accompanies him, and he is in good condition. Regarding what happened to him, having been attacked by the journalist, Al-Mohsen says: “At the beginning, I did not know who tripped me to fall as I was holding onto my son, while attempting to escape police—fearing that I would be made to be fingerprinted in Hungary; and because of the huge number of people." The man did not have the opportunity to watch the video clip that swept through social networking sites, and that caused the journalist working for Austrian television station N1TV to be fired.
In his interview with Rozana, Abdul-Mohsen said that, because of traveling and absence of Internet coverage; he was only able to watch the video two hours ago. He adds: “I was quite bothered by her action. She is a journalist, she is not in any way implicated in this matter and should remain neutral.
There are a great many journalists from different countries who are sympathetic to us. I am perplexed by her motives to do such a thing." He advised that he is considering filing a lawsuit against the aforementioned journalist, once he actually arrives to Munich; so as not to hurt the Syrians passing through Hungary. He did point out, on the other hand, that Hungarian police treated them well. It is noteworthy that Osama Abdul-Mohsen al-Ghadab is a native of the city of Deir ez-Zor in northeast Syria. He was a member of the Ittihad Sports Club, a former coach in the al-Futtuwa club, and a swimming coach.
