Reports | 25 05 2020

On Friday, dozens of cars arrived to the main Ayn al-Arab [Kobanî] city cemetery, in the funeral procession of the drowned Syrian child Alan, his mother Rihanna, and his elder brother, Ghalib.

The funeral procession left the city of Urfa in southern Turkey in the early morning, surrounded by armored vehicles that prevented the press from taking pictures or conducting any interview with the child's father Abdallah Shenno [Abdallah al-Kurdi], to a somber and quiet burial in the Syrian city of Ayn al-Arab [Kobanî].

The drowned child's father told the press: "I will not be trying to return to Europe. I will hold on to my homeland, and I will also stay near the graves of my wife and my children."

Abdallah survived the sinking accident two days ago while attempting to immigrate from Turkey to Europe using a small boat. He lost his wife and children on Monday as a result of the accident; and the European media picked up the image of the two-year old child Alan, viewing it as a way to change the face of Europe.

Rozana conducted an exclusively interview with the Alan's father after surviving the sea. To listen to the interview, kindly follow link: http://rozana.fm/ar/node/14627.
