Most sectors of life in the Lattakia countryside have been adversely affected by the current situation; even the dental profession. The region lost many dentists to migration, thereby impacting the health of citizens suffering from ailments and dental diseases.
That is why some dentists with scant experience resorted to opening private practices, with price levels varying dependent on the materials used. Due to the lack of professionalism, the results were invariably poor; such as happened with Abu Stayf, who discovered that one dentist gave him tooth fillings made out of plastic!
To receive better dental care, people of the countryside are forced to head to the city of Latakia, and face the threat of bombing, poor roads, as well as bear a doubling of the costs involved, in return for better quality procedures.
Given these conditions doctor Abu Mutasim, a native of Banias displaced to the Lattakia countryside, decided to open a rural clinic; taking into account the conditions of the people there, and offering them treatment at suitably affordable costs.
