Jailers ask for two "martyrs" to come out of the dormitories. Their intention today is to bump off two prisoners, to be killed under torture, and they need two detainees to volunteer as the would-be victims of this new nightmare.

Detainees call their fellow inmate volunteers "Fedayeen." 17 prisoners come out to be Fedayeen, while next time it is fifty; as collective torture is less painful, and its psychological and physical impact is much less for those tortured.
