Many Syrian children in opposition-controlled areas, now sleep hungry due to the loss of milk at pharmacies or at relief organizations, which usually secure it for a large number of them.
What compounds parents' suffering in attempting to secure milk for their children are the exorbitant prices. A small pack of milk weighing 400 grams retails at 1,500 SP—only if and when available on the market.
Abu Yasser from the city of Mare' [close to Aleppo] tells Rozana: "My child requires two packs a week of a particular type of milk, specifcally prescribed by the doctor. The price is high, and the regime prevents entry of milk to our areas, after the opposition controlled them."
The loss of milk adds a significant burden on the shoulders of the displaced, who are already struggling to secure their daily bread—how about securing a pack of milk? What is the alternative?
