I am Syrian, Syrian!!

Lina chawaf- Paris|| “I'm from Syria ... our country ... our homeland” This how a soldier in the Syrian army answered when asked: “Where are you from?” by an FSA member. In a very cruel twist of fate, both fighters had to face each other on an FSA checkpoint. Bullet froze and hearts broke while those two soldiers, along with the rest of Syrians, have to wonder “Why?” “Why we are destined to reach this stage of animosity that we cannot even look each other in the eyes?" We are all Syrian, from the same land, going through the same pain and anguish. The fear you see in the eyes of survivors emerging from under the rubble after the regime shelling is the same fear you see in the eyes of regime's soldiers in the grip of the FSA … It's the same Syrian fear. The same national passion burns in the hearts of many Syrians on both sides willing to give their lives for their homeland. Yet, here we are and it seems that the only dialogue left to Syrians is that of bullets, rockets and bombs. Why? How did that happen? Who is responsible? Syrians have to ask themselves every time they are stopped by a checkpoint, every time a missile or a mortar steals the precious life of a beloved souls.
