William hung his electrical engineering diploma on a wall five years ago, upon his university graduation; only to be employed—after quite some time—in an official Syrian government job.
Following the outbreak of the Revolution, William was summoned to reserve service in the Syrian regime's army. When he failed to join the service, he was summarily fired from his job.
Rasha also met with the same fate of her husband William: She also was arbitrarily dismissed from her teaching job in one of Suwayda's schools, under Article 137 of the regime's Council of Ministers decision, which was specifically issued to punish government functionaroies based on their opposition to the regime.
