The war raging on in Syria has cast a shadow over economic and human realities, with unemployment rate of able-bodied persons reaching an all-time high of 54%; 75% of Syrians living below the poverty line; as well as as many as 11 million Syrians losing their basic income since 2011.

Food prices have risen at least three-fold over the past years, with more than 50% of the population leaving their areas to escape the violence.
