The ongoing war raging in Syria has cast a long shadow over economic and human realities. The rate of unemployment of able-bodied Syrians has soared to 54%, with 75% of Syrians living below the poverty line; with 11 million Syrian losing their basic incomes since 2011.
Food prices have almost tripled over the past years and in excess of 50% of the population have left their areas, to escape the violence.
The trade sector suffered the largest share of total economic losses, followed by the transport sector, then industry, services, and agriculture.
